This is an atrractive and very usefull annual plant. It grows up to 32cm in height and has large medium dark green leaves from 2 to 4 cm long. Compared to Genovese, the scent and taste is sweeter and milder. It is slow to bolt, matures slightly later than Genovese with larger leaves. Many gardeners mass plant this variety for the common purpose of making pesto. It does well grown in pots or tubs. This variety is very much a warm season herb and does not tolerate frosts. Basil appreciates added organic matter in the soil and should be grown in full sun. It will rapidly grow in warm weather. Direct sow in spring, after the soil has warmed up. Thin seedlings to 30cm apart and keep the soil moist, but not wet. Pinch out seed heads to help prolong life of basil.
