Spicy Globe maintains its compact, mounded growth without pinching out, great in the herb garden and equally valuable as an ornamental edging for borders and beds. It stays dwarf and mound-shaped all season until frost, with a cloud of white flowers covering the surface in late summer. Highly flavourful and fragrant. Very much a warm season herb. Does not tolerate frosts. Basil appreciates added organic matter in the soil. Should be grown in full sun and will rapidly grow in warm weather. Direct sow in spring, and thin seedlings to 30cm apart. Keep soil moist, but not wet. Pinch out seed heads to help prolong life of basil plant.
