This atrractive and very useful, richly flavoured, dark green leafed
basil is compact and ideal for pot cultivation. It has shiny oval leaves
with white flowers. Pick the leaves early in the morning when they
have the strongest aroma. It also does well when grown in pots or
tubs. Basils lose flavour quickly in cooking and should be added
late in the preparation of the dish.

have the strongest aroma. It also does well when grown in pots or
tubs. Basils lose flavour quickly in cooking and should be added
late in the preparation of the dish. It will grow in a rich, well
drained, soil in full sun. Pinch out growing tips to get bushier plants
and to delay flowering It should be grown in a spot receiving at
least six hours of direct sunlight. It is actually quite hardy and will
grow continuously given only water. Very much a warm season
herb it does not tolerate frosts. Basil appreciates added organic
matter in the soil. Basil should be grown in full sun and will rapidly
grow in warm weather. Direct sow in spring, and thin seedlings to
30cm apart. Keep the soil moist, but not wet. Pinch out seed heads
to help prolong life of basil plant.
