For good germination Meadowsweet requires three factors... the
seeds need cold conditions, they need light, and they need ample
moisture. Store the seeds in a refrigerator for a month or more
before planting. Make sure the seed raising mix is well composted
so it holds a lot of moisture yet remains free draining and thirdly
press the seeds into the soil without covering them. Keeping the
soil moist is best affected by covering the seeds with glass or
gladwrap to prevent drying out. The seeds germinate best at
10-13C but do not plant until early spring because they will
remain dormant until then. Transplant into individual pots and
keep moist until the following autumn before transplanting into
the garden in a damp spot with plenty of sunlight.
