LETTUCE - MESCLUN MIX

This is a lovely mix of loose leaf lettuce varieties with chervil,

mache, rocket and endive.  It is ideal for year round plantings

Here is an opportunity to create your own ready made French

style salad mix. It makes a fabulous display when scattered

in beds close to paths and in other areas often frequented by

passers by. They do not like hot weather and prefer the

shade. This mix should be sown often to ensure a

continuous supply. Sow the seeds very shallowly and

rake in lighlty. Keep the soil moist for the continued

life of the plant and you will be rewarded with lovely

salad greens. Any dryness will result in bitter leaves and

bolting will result. Sow in all months in mild areas

and cease sowing during mid winter in cold areas.

expected to arise. Mesclun will grow well under trees

where they receive dappled shade.
