This heirloom variety of lettuce has to be one of the prettiest and also one of the best tasting varieties available. The leaves are a lovely frilly pinkish red and they have a softness that makes them ideal for adding to your homemade salad mixes to give colour and taste. It is a very hardy variety. The red leaves have a tinge of green towards the base. Makes for a very pretty lettuce in the home garden. Brightens up any salad. 6 to 7 weeks to maturity.
Lettuces are easily grown in any moist but well drained, humis rich soil in full sun or part shade. For tender succulent leaves, ensure soil remains moist. Shade younger plants in hot weather and feed with weak liquid fertiliser every few weeks. Can be grown in most areas all year.
