This is an open pollinated type of lettuce. Green Oakleaf is an old time favourite. Makes classy salad mixes and is well suited to drought and heat as it stays tasty. It is a non bitter lettuce. The plant is attractive with rather tight rosettes of medium green leaves. This lettuce will grow in light shade. Does well from soil enrichment as it love light, fertile, moist, well drained soils.
Sow seeds in furrows and lightly cover with a fine layer of vermiculite, and keep surface moist. Begin harvest in 3 - 5 weeks depending on weather. Good idea to apply liquid fertiliser.
