Pisum sativum

CULINARY USES:  pea sprouts can be used in salads, soups, stirfrys, and most meat and vegetarian dishes.

The sprouts can be cooked for a traditional Asian dish by stirfrying with a little green ginger and wine

or with ginger, garlic and oil. 

To germinate tendril peas first discard any seeds that have split during transport. 

Rinse the seeds in water for 8 hours.

Then place them one seed deep in a shallow tray withabout 5-10mm apart.

Cover the seeds in the tray with soil or mix to cover.

keep the soil medium slightly moist but not wet.

When the shoots reach 10cm high you can trim the off in order to encourage

denser growth but this is not necessary.

You can harvest the seeds several times if you fertilise them with seaweed solution.
