greyish, bronze coloured leaves that turn slightly

 purple during summer and early autumn.

It has a peppery flavour which is not so bitter as

winter savory.and is called the bean herb as it

complements beans and other vegetables.

It is widely used in herb vinegars and butters.

Summer Savory is an annual plant growing to a

height of approx 30-60cm andwith small, narrow,

greyish, bronze coloured leaves that turn slightly

 purple during summer and early autumn.

It has a peppery flavour which is not so bitter as

winter savory.and is called the bean herb as it

complements beans and other vegetables.

It is widely used in herb vinegars and butters.

Sow seeds of summer savory directly into their

final garden position in spring, after the weather

has warmed up. Lightly cover them with soil and

keep the soil damp.  When the seedlings are

established, thin them to 45 cm apart.

Good drainage is essential. Apply a generous

feeding of liquid fertiliser every 2 - 3 weeks.
