a high percentage of Chinese cabbage grown for
market in the United States. its upright cylindrical
heads average 40-50cm tall and 15cm in diameter
with dark-green leaves and a well blanched interior.
it reaches maturity from 55 to 100 days Michihilli
can be grown all year-round in Tropical and
Sub-tropical areas and is best sown in Spring and
early Autumn in Cool and Temperate areas. It is a
great addition to a stir-fry or added to salads or
soups. Plant the seeds directly, 0.5-1cm deep in
richly composted damp soil for best results. It can
be transplanted from
seedlings in cooler areas but is very quick to grow.
Thin plants to 20-30cm apart in rows 30-50cm
apart and keep moist to ensure fast uniform growth.
Harvest the outer leaves when they appear ready
and cut the mature plant when the head tightens.
