Golden Acre is an excellent variety for growing in small gardens, on patios, in pots and places where space is limited. It is good for small families who do not need a large cabbage or great for Farmers Markets. It has quite a sweet taste without that strong cabbage smell. Golden Acre grows quite fast and will fully mature at 65 after transplanting, It grows a 15-20cm head and handles close planting quite well. It is versatile and suitable for any recipe a cabbage might be needed. Cabbage is closely related to broccoli, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts and like these other members of the Brassica genus, requires a fertile soil with good moisture-holding capacity. Cabbage does not generally do well in hot weather, the best success comes with end of summer through to winter sowings. Try to keep the pH level above 6.0 with the addition of dolomite, woodash or lime. A full sun position is advantageous.
