ZUCCHINI - GOLDEN SUMMER CROOKNECK

This very early fruiting bush type of "pumpkin". It is a very heavy -bearing variety that produces fruit about 30 cm long and shaped somewhat like a swan. The bright yellow coloured warty looking hard skins cover flesh with a very agreeable flavour. Well worth a try. This variety is a compact bush that produces good quantities of long, golden coloured fruit with a distinctive swan neck shape. They are produced over quite a long period and show some resistance to diseases associated with zucchinis and similar vining vegetables. The fruit are of excellent flavour. and are especially great in many European style dishes as a lovely zucchini style addituion. Best harvested when fruit is a little longer than your usual zucchini. Ready to harvest in 60-80 days.
Sow seed directly after last frost, as warmth in the soil is required for best germination. The more preparation you give your soil with rich organic matter, to ensure high nitrogen levels, the better you will be rewarded Plant in full sun & keep soil moist but not wet, good drainage is a must. Plant seed 3-5 cm deep and space plants 75-90 cm apart.
