Cucurbita pepo
The fruit of this pumpkin are the producers of naked seeds which can
be eaten raw. They are high in many nutrients including iodine. The

cholesterol free and contain no gluten. The seeds are eaten raw, whole
or ground into meal and sprinkled over salads and incorporated in both
savoury and sweet dishes. The flowers are edible too.
The Hulless Pepita can be a great variety for use in greenhouses or
grow bags too. The vine bears fruit within 100 days of planting.
Sow seeds Oct-Dec in cool and temperate areas, between Aug-Feb
in the Subtropics and from Feb-Sept in the full Tropics. The seeds
should be planted directly in the garden about 1-2cm deep in rich soil
and kept growing fast with plenty of water. Plant the seeds about
1m apart in all directions or when planted in rows, 75cm apart and
with the rows 1.2-1.5m apart.
