It is a good idea to soak seeds for a few hours
prior to direct sowing in the garden in drills
20-30cm apart and 12mm deep. Cover the seeds
with compost or vermiculite and keep moist.
The best time to sow seed in temperate climates
is from July to March, and September to March
in colder areas. Beetroot keeps well in open
storage for a few weeks but will keep for 2 to 3
months when stored in a refrigerator.
