The fruit have a mild flavour and will keep for long periods of time even when fully ripe. The plant is resistant to many tomato diseases; wilts, nematodes, mosaic virus and blossom end rot. Studies have shown that when eaten, or the juice drunk, then cholesterol may be lowered; in a similar way to oranges and orange juice but at a higher level. They make good plants for use in tubs.
ORIGIN Andes: Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. They grow in the mountains between 200-1,000m.
