ECHINACEA - PALE LEAF CONEFLOWER

This plant although very beautiful is probably most highly regarded

for its claimed medicinal qualities, particularly those associated

with immune systems.

Echinacea leaves, flowers, and roots can be used to make tea and tincture.

This herbal tea has a very strong floral flavor that's somewhat bitter.

You can easily make echinacea tea sweeter by adding some honey or sugar.

The petals make a pretty adition to salads and light meals.

Pale leaf coneflower is a hardy, drought

resistant plant once established. Its beautiful dark cone shaped

centre is surrounded by rich, pale pink petals. They make excellent

cut flowers. Ideally, echinacea should be planted in mass for the

grand effects. Plants can grow to 70cm in height.

Pale leaf coneflower is a hardy, drought resistant
plant once established. Its beautiful dark cone
shaped centre is surrounded by rich, pale pink
petals. They make excellent cut flowers. Ideally,
echinacea should be planted in mass for the
grand effects. Plants can grow to 70cm in height. It
has a long flowering season from mid-summer to
autumn. It prefers a full sun position and is quite
tolerant of windy conditions but the flowers have a
better appearance if protected from winds. It
needs well drained soil of average quality. In
temperate climates, sow seeds at almost any time
of the year, but in cold districts, best sown during
the spring and autumn months. Place seed in
moist sand in a airtight container for a few weeks.
Then place seeds in seedling trays or punnets by
tamping the seed into a premium seed raising
mix. Cover lightly with the mix and keep moist.
Plant out into garden when the seedlings are
established. Liquid fertilise as required.
