COMMENTS: This plant is a good producer that shows resistance to many tomato diseases. There is some tendency towards blossom end rot in seasons of low rainfall or poor irrigation, but it performs well in high heat areas. The fruit does not hold on the plant when mature so it needs regular picking and refrigeration once picked. The fruit has an excellent sweet, rich, smokey taste with little acidity. The flesh is a brick colour with green seed gel. The plants have a tendency to spread and it is recommended that they be caged rather than staked.

ORIGIN This is a Tennessee (USA) heirloom which is thought to have been grown by the Cherokee tribe. It has been known since before 1890.
