This perrenial plant is erect, clumping, with lobed leaves. It may grow to 55cm in height. It has a delicious aromatic flavour and smell. The yellow flowers produce a 5cm long fruit which is also edible. It is prized in Italian cuisine and well worth experimenting with. Sow seeds in most of the year but avoid deep winter or high summer plantings. Sow seed as shallow as possible in a tray and transplant into the garden, spaced 35cm apart when large enough to. Keep soil moist and do not allow to dry out. It is a good idea, in the first season to sow a following crop every 3 to 4 weeks, to ensure a continual picking.
