Nasturtium majus
This nasturtium flower is a trailing type which looks has large leaves, and single spurred, white flowers. it looks great in pots, hanging baskets, along rock walls and under fruit trees where they encourage beneficial insects. Edible leaves, stems, buds, flowers and seeds This great mix of trailing vines produces masses of flowers which make a great addition to your salad mix. The leaves can be added to the salad mix or placed between slices of bread for a zesty sandwich. The stems can be cut and added to stirfries or salad mixes where they look like bean shoots . This is the old fashioned sprawling, trailing variety. Nasturtiums will grow in a wide range of soils, but they do best in moderately fertile soils in which plants produce less foliage and flower more prolifically. They prefer open sunlight and rather dry conditions though they will still thrive in partial shade. Sow a few seeds in clumps 20-30 cm apart. Thinning is rarely needed. Sow in Spring through to August.
