This variety is a Calabrese type which produces a mutitude of medium sized heads with a lovely rich green colour to the heads and the leaves. It looks wonderful in a stir fry where it will still retains its rich colour after cooking. Broccoli has been known in Europe since Roman times but has only become widely popular in Australia in the last few decades.

This variety is a Calabrese type which produces a mutitude of medium sized heads with a lovely rich green colour to the heads and the leaves. It looks wonderful in a stir fry where it will still retains its rich colour after cooking. Broccoli has been known in Europe since Roman times but has only become widely popular in Australia in the last few decades. Broccoli is high in vitamins C, K and A, as well as dietry fibre. It also contains multiple nutrients with potent anti-cancer properties. Broccoli has been found to reduce the risk of aggressive prostate cancer. Broccoli consumption has also been shown to be beneficial in the prevention of heart disease. Remember that the benefits of broccoli are greatly reduced if the vegetable is boiled more than ten minutes This variety has rich green leaves and will grow to 70-75cm in height. Plant seeds 0.5-1.0cm deep and 35-50cm apart in rows 50-60cm apart. Broccoli likes a rich garden bed with ample lime or wood ash. Plant Plant from September to April in temperate districts and one month later in cool districts. In tropical areas from February to May or June.
