Cucurbita pepo

This button squash variety has a subtle green tinge colouring.

It is a lovely addition to the stir fry  with a

delicate texture and flavour. When left to mature a

little longer it developes a lovely texture and flavour

and can be stuffed and baked whole in the skin.

The squashes are typically about 12cm in diameter

and weigh up to a kilo but are best picked and eaten

at only about 5-7cm in diameter when they have a

softer skin and can be cooked whole.

It has a bush type growth habit which makes it an excellent

variety for vegetable plots where space is limited.

It is a great variety for use in greenhouses or grow

bags. It is a very early variety bearing edible fruit

within 48 days of planting.

Squash seeds should be

planted about 1-2cm deep in rich composted soil

and kept growing fast with plenty of water.

Sow Oct-Dec in Cold and Temperate areas:

Aug- Feb in Subtropics and Feb-Sep in the Tropics

Plant the seeds about 1m apart in all directions or

in rows, 75cm apart and in rows 1.2-1.5m apart.
