DILL - COMPATTO
This Dill cultivar is highly sought after because not only does it have an exquisite taste but it is very short and will only reach as high as 45-50 cm. This makes it popular as a pot plant for patios and verandahs.popular because it has been selected for being the most flavoursome and is excellent for pickling.
This Dill cultivar is highly sought after because not only does it have an exquisite taste but it is very short and will only reach as high as 45-50 cm. The foliage is a light blue green colour. It is a very early producer. Dill is a good companion for cabbages. It is believed to have many herbal uses Dill is well known for flavouring fish dishes and is also a lovely flavouring for salad dishes, vegetables, rice and egg dishes. Dill bears its flattish, umberella like, heads of yellow flowers in summer. Harvest the seeds when they havemostly turned a brown colour. They can then be spread on trays and dried further where they are not in direct sunlight. IThe plant can reach over a meter in height. It is best grown in full sun with wind protection and well drained soil. Direct sow seeds in spring to early autumn into well prepared soil, enriched with plenty of organic matter. Space plants 25cm apart. Liquid fertilise every two to three weeks
