PEA - GREENFEAST

Pisum sativum

This is a great Australian variety that crops heavily with peas being produced 95-110 days after sowing. It is a strong bush variety which easily reaches 75 cm and will grow to 1 m. It is best suited to cooler climates, it shows good disease tolerance and crops over an extended period. It has an excellent taste.

Peas require well drained soil. If soil is acidic, apply lime, woodash or other alkalising agent. Mark out a furrow 25mm deep and press the seed into the soil to a spacing of approx 3 to 5 cm, peas do not mind crowding so that they actually touch and will even do better under these conditions. Sow Autumn to Spring. They will require a trellis or crossed sticks support. Space 1m between rows. After sowing the seeds, cover lightly with a rake, tamp down the soil water once and do not over water seeds as they can rot.
